Schedule of Domestic Flights

being on the company's mailing list I see that their site is offerring schedules of domestic flights

I can't, obviously, comment on the accuracy or completeness of the information, but it looks like a pretty useful resource.

Very nice! But I use Amadeus, which will show you flights (including multi-stop) from anywhere to anywhere.

Most of the time, it will work with a city name. But sometimes you will need to know the airport code (like LHR for Heathrow, BOM for Mumbai, or more obscurely IXL for Leh and IXM for Madurai...). These are the same codes they print on your luggage tags.

Google will find the code for you - just search for (for example) Leh airport code - Leh is a good example, as there is an airport with the code LEH... It's Le Havre (the airport's actually called Octeville) in France!

Amadeus will also show availability in the different classes. You cannot book from there though - it's just an access to schedules.

I've looked at their train page and found many mistakes, some because all the times are from old timetables, but some just inexcusable, e.g. No Mumbai Central to Delhi, Calcutta -Delhi, timetable.

In fact I've just looked again, and it's crap, It looks very informative, but I could do a massive list of mistakes and omissions.

...Not so good then. Perhaps they are trying to cover too much.

It's not a bad place to buy maps, though, like those Eicher CityMaps I'm always plugging.

Amadeus looks really useful

Yes it is a travel agent system - which is why it's so useful. But yes, you can use it (NOT for booking though - only they can do that).

So travel agents get to see all the pricing?

Pity that is not available to us.

Yes, Travel agents have a different link into Amadeus. It's the prime ticketing system they use. The URL I linked to is designed for Joe Public (us!) to use. It's a link into the same databases (so is a very accurate reflection on routing and seat availability) but the pricing and booking areas are blocked.

I have used it for years - I got fed up with (business) travel agents giving me terrible routings for business trips, and in one of many 'discussions' about it with them, they told me I could try my own searches (they gave me the link, way back). The site has improved over the years, but (as I said above) there are times when you will need to know the airport code. There are few sites where you can search for Leeds/Bradford to Leh for instance (multiple carriers involved, of course!).

I tried it a while ago, probably because you mentioned it, but didn't get very far, beyond some general stuff. You have any step-by-step tips to get to the right pages, or preferably the URL to those (their home page doesn't even load with me for starters, so I need to look up a sub-page to get in at all)?

Weird! The link should take you to language selection. Works for me OK. Oh well, another www anomaly.

Assuming you want English, here is the link to the next page. From there, it should be self-explanatory... http://wftc2.e-travel.com/plnext/ama...&SITE=BBQVBBQV

(If you prefer Dutch, this is the link: http://wftc2.e-travel.com/plnext/ama...&SITE=BBQVBBQV)

Thumbs up

Thanks Barn, looks most promising. No idea why I didn't get as far before. Site not loading isn't that weird, I must be blocking this that or the other (modern anomalies indeed ) That wasn't what was causing my not getting any further before though.

Anyway, this solves it, so -- thanks.
