Reconfirmation of domestic flights?
I'm due to take two domestic flights in a couple of weeks, one from Mumbai-Udaipur with Jet Airways, and one Varanasi-Delhi with JetLite(Sahara).
I booked e-tickets on MakemyTrip.com. Do I need to reconfirm these tickets a few days before, and if so what is the number for Jet Lite (can't find on there website) Thanks. |

You should definitely reconfirm your flight ... now and up to the flight. I just read a post on TT/LonelyPlanet forum from an individual that also used MakeMyTrip ... reconfirmed a bit prior (I think two weeks) and the flight was STILL cancelled. They showed up to find no plane. They were told they'd get a credit on MakeMyTrip and purchase a ticket on another airline at their own expense OR wait two days for another flight on the original Air Deccan.
So definitely check and recheck ... especially if you have a tight itinerary. ScarletLSG |

There is no harm in reconfirming. I do that a day before, if I have booked well in advance.
The jetlite call centre toll free numbers (from India) are Quote:
Alternately, since you're in London, you could call Quote:

I suppose there's 'no harm' in reconfirming. Last month I took a total of eight (8) domestic flights -- on Indian, Deccan, and Jet -- and did not confirm any of them. I had, incidentally, e-tickets for all those flights.

I think there maybe two meanings to the word 'reconfirm' here.
It used to be that international flights had to be reconfirmed --- that is the passenger had to reconfirm their intention to fly. If they did not do so, the airline would give their seat to those on standby, or even sell it again to someone else. I know that BA no longer require this re-confirmation; they are the only airline I've used in the last two or three years. I don't know if this type of reconfirmation is required by domestic flights? It seems more to the point these days to "reconfirm" that the airline has not cancelled the flight or changed its schedule.
