Problems with flights to India?

A UK travel show called 'departure lounge' reported the following. Apparently pilots are going to refuse to fly because they are not willing to take responsibility for the passenger information that's being requested by Indian authorities. Does anyone know anything about this? Are there likely to be problems flying to India??

"Many flights to India could come to an abrupt halt if a new law takes effect at the start of next month. In common with many other countries, India is implementing an Advance Passenger Information System aimed at boosting homeland security. From 1 October 2005, the authorities will demand personal details on all travellers flying to India. The information is supposed to be sent to officials within 15 minutes of the aircraft taking off. And to enforce the law, the Indian government is threatening captains of aircraft that fail to comply with a five-year jail sentence."

The story was reported on the BBC in the UK and in the Independent newspaper.

I guess that they will sort out any disagreement over this rule, and that flights will carry on as normal.

India needs the revenue from travellers!

I'm not worried! Just thought it was of interest. Obviously they'll have to reach some kind of resolution about it, but there may be interruption for a short-time whilst they achieve that (and with my luck I'll be flying when the 'interruption' occurs!) ;-)
