Private Pilot License: Flying in India and Sri Lanka

Has anyone done this before? Renting a single-engine plane and flying around for a few hours or days?
Are these planes reliable? Where can I find people to hire a plane from?

Happy travelling!!!

HO! HO! HO!
If you can get past the bureaucracy in India then you are probably a stinking RICH guy!!!! I don't think it is possible at all to hire and fly one! but you never know....

I have never heard of anyone hiring a plane to fly...I know for sure that you can charter an aircraft with a pilot of course! Also I have only seen twin-seaters here.

You can get joyrides on small airplanes mostly Cessna 152 aerobat... in Delhi. Or on fixed wing gliders.

In South India they have microlites: mostly delta wing. I think they have paraplaces too. Paragliders are very 'in' in Manali and Garhwal (Pauri).
Ballooning and Bungee jumps are organised by experts once in a blue moon.

Try to locate 'Raj Hamsa" in Bangalore..rather than dealing with these bureaucratic aero-clubs - who know nothing! Also note that most of the flying schools and clubs mentioned in their list are just names....non-existent to be great extent..existing only on paper....
