Need info about Reserved lounge or Dorm at Chennai airport
I have 7 hours transit time between arrival of my international flight and departure of domestic flight at chennai. The airport authority website shows there is a Reserved lounge / Executive lounge. However, it does not say how to make a booking in advance. (What a poor information or web site). With kids and family, I would like to stay in Reserved lounge / Executive lounge/ Dorm at Chennai airport in night. Appreciate, let me know how to book/reserve the lounge in advance from US. Experinced holders, please thro some light.
Thanks |

if its an overnight wait then you should book into a cheap hotel near the airport. I doubt there is anywhere to sleep in the chennai airport lounge, In fact i doubt that there even is one, I dont remember seeing it. They will be run by the airlines probably so contact your airline and see what they say.

It's been my experience (with railway stations), that the rooms are available on a first-come basis. You can't book in advance.
Could well be the same at the airports. I know that the Delhi airport has no rooms available because of the expansion works (in time for the 2010 games). If you can't get a bed for the night, I'd second the advice of mairangi_vice and go to a nearby hotel. It won't be cheap (at least US$50 for the night) but it will be more comfortable than the lounge. Cheers Zoltan

Chennai airport has 'retiring rooms'.
They have been mentioned on this site: try a search for that phrase.

Yes they have. Have stayed there once maybe 7 years ago.
Don't think you can book in advance. Have to see the airport manager with an onward air ticket (or had to, earlier- stayed once for a few hours in Mumbai too, where they had the same system), basically confirming that you arrived by air and are departing by air. If you can get into the domestic airport early, (cant see why not, as a transit passenger, except that in Delhi I was not allowed in more than 3 hours before the flight, once) there is enough space and chairs to stretch out, even sleep. Food, drink easily available. With kids it can get tedious, I guess.
