Mumbai and Delhi would get the cheapest flights, also many more flights than other cities.

Mumbai would probably be the easiest to get to from Goa. There are flights from here to Perth I just checked. HERE
Mumbai - Perth Air India = 25450 Rupees (296 GBP) Hope that helps, where are you in Goa, there are many good Travel Agents in Goa that could possibly be of more assistance!! |

Second CH on the travel agents. Since time is a big factor you will be able to see the options and decide... Mumbai would be the best, but you never know. Maybe you can get a quicker connection at a good price through other cities.
Good luck. |

Yep... go straight to a travel agent and come out with a ticket.
We did this when my mum was terminally ill in UK. It took a couple of days to get the visa for my wife, then we were on the plane the same evening we bought the ticket.

This is where you need a good travel agent rather than India Mike! FWIW I suspect your best options would be via Mumbai. Probably Qantas or Air India, but also other regional carriers like Singapore, Thai, Cathay. Tell the agent your personal situation; sometimes airlines have special quota for emergencies. Contact a few agents so you sure you are getting a good deal.

You will have to contact the Australian High Commission for that one. The address is
1/50 G Shantipath, Chanakyapuri - Telephone: 4139 9900 - Fax: 4149 4490 You can probably get this done in Mumbai too; they should be able to tell you the rules for UK citizens too, and also the fastest way to get the visa, if required. For travel agent in Calangute, can't you get some info locally, from hotel desks etc? According to my aging guide book, one travel agent is "MGM International Travels", phone 2276249, "near the roundabout in the market area". However, your agent need not be in Calangute; you can collect your tickets in other parts of Goa, say Panjim. Make initial inquiries by phone, place the order with best quote and then go pick up the ticket. |

Sorry to hear the news.
In my small experience (only buying BA tickets to UK) the agents' commission is very small and there is little room for competition, let alone bargaining. The price may even be a few rupees more than buying direct --- but the agent saves you the hassle and is worth it. It is not like buying in UK, where there may be big savings to be made from finding the right agent or website. <a few minutes later> Very interesting to hear about the electronic visa... |

pudd, make sure you tell the travel agent that you are travelling to a funeral (and i'm really sorry to hear your bad news). i don't know about other airlines or international flights, but australian carriers usually not only ensure you get there asap they quite often offer a discounted fare.
