Mumbai transfer time
I am trying to figure out my domestic connection (Hyderabad - Mumbai), to an international Qantas flight departing Mumbai at 8.30pm. There is a Jet-Lite flight that will have me in to Mumbai 3 hours before the departure. My experience with domestic flights in India though is that they are very very frequently delayed - would this connection time be too risky? Last year I didn't have to handle my luggage in Mumbai (I travelled domestic on Jet), so I am hoping this will be one less thing to worry about.
My only other option seems to be to leave the morning sometime (8-10 am) and I really don't want to spend a day at Mumbai airport - any suggestions of a nearby hotel for a very pregnant traveller and her 3 year old child to rest-up? |

Change in Mumbai
I was on a Jet Airways flight from Kolkata to Mumbai in August and then I transferred to a Northwest Airlines flight to Amsterdam. I had a 4-hour layover for this transfer and 3 hours would have been sufficient. What made my experience go smooth was being on partner airlines. I checked in for my Northwest flight in Kolkata and someone from Northwest airlines met me at the baggage claim in Mumbai and took care of my checked baggage and showed me where to transfer to the international terminal.
The only delay I had was in waiting for the bus to leave from the domestic terminal to go to the international terminal. |

Last month i was on a Spice Jet flight from Varanasi to Bombay...then connecting to a NW flight to Amsterdam....I had 5 hours connecting time when i booked the flight...however the internal flight was delayed at least 1 hour..The 4 hours was sufficient as everything worked out from there, infact we lounged around the lovely Bombay Airport for some time before the flight boarded.
I guess it all depends if your domestic flight is delayed or not?? Otherwise u will be fine. Just pick up your luggage at the domestic airport in Bombay and take the shuttle bus to the international airport. The shuttle bus leaves quite frequently. ![]() |
