Mumbai airport in Monsoon?

I need to catch a flight from Mumbai airport in earl-July. As this is my first time at Mumbai airport during Monsoon season, I like to know the prospects--are the flights often delayed (not mind very much) or cancelled (that I would mind) during Rains?

I have to travel from IIT Powai to Airport at catch flight at 0930 AM. If it rains, does the route becomes jammed/blocked?
Should I leave very early?

That route is gonna be messy for years. This year (Feb '09) I saw major portion of that route dug up for some metro project. Plan accordingly. Inquire from the airline how early or how latest can you check in, and factor in the slow traffic.

I'd say you should budget for an hour to get to the airport, and maybe two hours if you see (more than usual) insane rain the night before!

As your flight is at 0930 a.m., you need to reach the airport latest by 0830 a.m. IIT Powai to Airport is not very far and also you are travelling before the office traffic starts. The route is not very messy, but you keep a cushion of an hour and leave around 0730 a.m. You shall reach airport comfortably.. But, this is not applicable if you plan in peak office hours.
