most common web sites used to book domestic flights from abroad

Hi folks.

Just two questions:

1. What are the most usual (and relaible) web sites which can be used to book domestic flights from abroad using a western credit card (ie mastercard).

2. Some low cost airlines (not all) have a poor record for reliability and changing flight dates and times etc. How can a traveller check before they are due to fly that their plane is still on time ?

It will be very anoying indeed if a domestic flight to say Delhi in time to leave the country for home were cancelled or delayed by a day !!! Which of course would mean that your int flight home would be missed !!!

Many thanks for all help and assistance.

You can check for available flights at http://in.farechase.yahoo.com
The website then re-directs to the airline site to enable bookings to be made, using a credit card.

I go to ixigo.com which then takes you to the airline website.
If you have a cell phone while in India you can give the airline your number and they'll text you if they are changing the flight. Otherwise, check online.

Unless you're going to Leh, I doubt a flight will be cancelled or delayed a day. There's half a dozen domestic airlines and they are quite reliable. I've had good experiences with Spicejet.

I have used cleartrip.com several times in the past and never had a problem. Makemytrip.com, Travelguru.com and Travelchacha.com are a few other options. Not 100% sure if they accept international cards, but I am thinking they would.

Any advice for booking Kolkata to Port Blair, Andamans return in November?

Which airline? How long far in advance should I book?
