Hey again,

I would suggest that as holiday packages are very cheap (from the UK, my sister gets a three week holiday, including the hotel for under 500 Euro's) so why not have a look at package holiday prices. You just don't have to use the return portion of the air ticket if you don't want, or perhaps you could sell it, first changing the name of whoever wants to get back (which the person buying the ticket would also pay for) to spain cheaply from India! Just a thought, but if they did package holidays to Bangalore (where I go into India) I would certainly take one of those packages instead of paying through the nose like I always have to.

Hi Bobby,

You may want to try the Indian site www.indiatimes.com

There is an option of paying fares in US$. Also try www.rediff.com. www. cheaptickets.com is an international site you can try.

Here is a suggestion. If you are finding it difficult to find a flight to goa, book a flight to Mumbai (previously Bombay). You can take connecting flights to Goa. Better still, book a flight to Bangalore (I live in Bangalore) and there on to Goa :-)

This is unsolicited, but if you are looking to stay in a 5* hotel, make sure you take one of the good Indian branded hotels like The Leela, or The Taj. I would also highly recommend Fort Aguda Resort. Lovely view!!! Check this page out http://goa-hotels.indiaserver.com/index.html. I have stayed at The Leela.. Its lovely.

If you want budget accomodation (as cheap as $20 per day), I suggest Colmar beach resort on Colva Beach.

Trust that helps!

Chaitanya

Check out some of the charter companies.

At the start and end of the charter season there are often lots of single fares available for about £200.

Jewel In The Crown is one charter company I can think of.

I just checked expedia.co.uk and the cheapest one-way from London to Goa is on Jet Airways (yes they do fly to Europe these days). Jet airways doesn't charge weird fares for one-way tickets, like most airlines.

Lon-Bom-Goa comes out to be £361. Still not as cheap as the last minute charter tickets, but then again, you can't really count on those.

I always try to get a return for less than £360, I have always got one.

Which airline / charter / travel agency? That's really cheap for a return.
I guess it also heavily depends on when you travel.

Apart from charters, it is probably easier to find a cheap ticket to a major gateway like Mumbai; you can buy a Mumbai-Goa ticket on-line with either of the discount airlines (SpiceJet and Deccan) for around 2200 rp (approx 27GB pounds)

I don't stick with any particular website or company, I just do a google search and then go from there, it normaly takes a couple of hours to get past the £460 + fares, but all of a sudden there seems to be lots of fares between £350 + £360.

I used Aeroflot the last time, but very nearly used Royal Jordanian, but got cheesed off because they wouldn't allow me a 2 - 3 day stopover in Jordan, lots of the east European and Gulf airlines offer cheap fares, and now the cheaper Indian airlines are available it should help to keep the fares down.

These fares are to Mumbai or Delhi, other cities are considerably more expensive.

For Southall Travel's website, click on the 'Train Information' link in post 5 of this thread and you will see 3 adds at the top of the page, one is for Southall Travel. (the add saying- "cheapest way to fly India")

This way, a few pennies go to Indiamike.com

That will be because it is illegal for the charters to sell a one-way ticket. Only charters fly direct into Dabolim, and the charters have to offer a two way ticket (to prevent them darn hippies slippin in and jest lyin around on the beaches all day)
So you either get a one way to Mumbai and cheap flight it down (check out Kingfisher and Deccan) or else you buy a return and throw away the return part.
They are also not supposed to sell a flight without accommodation, else them pesky hippies just end up sleeping on the beaches. But some do. Try www.goaway.co.uk
