what is going on with kingfisher these days? The news I'm surveying online looks improved, but is it bad to book travel on the airline for june/july now?

Well, a running thread here is about someone waiting to get a refund through a third party on a canceled flight of theirs, ostensibly owing to their going down the drain completely. (I mean it didn't sound like just a casual cancellation.)

I'm not much into the airline industry, but, I wouldn't place my bets on them... Just do a site search on it, it's been frequently discussed here of late.

No matter what you do and at all times and if applicable where you live, seek to book through agents or websites that are affiliated to the appropriate overseeing/consumer organizations to cover you against cases of bankruptcy or indeed undue cancellations and such.

I mean this is always a good idea, Kingfisher's current status or not.

Avoid Kingfisher - future is very uncertain and many flights are being canceled for a variety of reasons including "no-show" by the pilots. Management had not paid salaries to employees for months and even after Mallya making promises to pay, I am not sure if it has really happened.

Interestingly Mallya was seen discussing with Mukesh Ambani during the recent IPL game - the fly on the wall heard some whispering going on .

Flying KF has become a gamble. You will never know when their flights get cancelled. For ex, I had to go to BLR airport a few weeks back and was surprised to see ALL inbound KF flights as Cancelled!

Even if there is new money coming in, I expect it will take an year or so before they can win back customer confidence.

I read in the papers today that KF has paid outstanding salaries to its employees. But as others have pointed out I being a member of the frequent flier program of KF won't be flying KF for a long time now.
