Thumbs up kingfisher and kingfisher red - what differences ?

Hi folks,

Just what is the difference between kingfisher and kingfisher red ? Is one the budget airline of the other ?

Is kingfisher red still ok with safety and flights on time etc ?

On another what does "konnect" mean next to a Jetlite flight ?

Any info much appreciated.

Cheers

There is no Business Class on Kingfisher Red. All the seats are economy only. Also no food is served onboard. They are equally safe as normal Kingfisher. Konnect is same as Kingfisher Red.

Kingfisher Red - Budget operations of Kingfisher : All same except no food on board, reduced leg room, more particular about luggage weight eg.,.if the ticket allows 20kgs, they will strictly adhere to the same.

Jet Konnect - Budget operations of Jet Airways : All same as above.

Jet lite - Low cost airline owned by Jet airways : All same as above.

There are no differences in safety, on-time performance et al.

Are you sure that a "konnect" is tagged next to a Jetlite flight ? Jetlite and Jet have two separate designator S2 and 9W. S2 used to be Sahara. Jet Konnect flights are still coded 9W i.e Jet Airways.

Since Jet Airways Management and Sahara Parivar ex owners of S2 (Formerly Air Sahara) now Jetlite are in litigation over the final price to be paid and the same matter is being heared in the Mumbai High Court. Jet management thought it wont be wise on their part to transfer any assets including planes to Jetlite till the matter is resolved. Hence thats how jet konnect came into exsistence.

As for Kingfisher Red its nothing but old Air Deccan services. The only difference you would see is that Kingfisher is quietly getting rid of its old DN A320,s and ATR,s and using its exsisting IT aircraft. Kingfisher serves complimentary snacks onboard its services although the portion size is too small.

I flew IT34??? from CCU to BGL and yes there was food - for each and every sector. I had to pass up some servings. No beer though :-(

IT045/6 (BGL-DXB) had similar food, but at least they had alcohol.

IT is certainly less expensive than Emirates, and there was no problem with IT attentiveness to safety and comfort on international and domestic flights.
