Kingfisher Airlines targets tourist routes.

I just saw the new schedules for Kingfisher Airlines and there are some very interesting flights.

The airline is taking a bit of a gamble I think, but I hope it succeeds; some of these flights will be very useful to tourists.

I've no time to give full details (click on 'new schedules' above), but I'll list a few of the flights.

(Some of the following flights were already operating)

All flights are daily unless otherwise stated.

Agra - Delhi
Agra - Jaipur
Agra - Jodhpur

Aurangabad (for Ajanta/Ellora caves) - Udaipur

Delhi - Agra
Delhi - Khajuraho

Goa - Kochi (Cochin)
Goa - Trivandrum

Jaipur - Agra
Jaipur - Goa
Jaipur - Jodhpur
Jaipur - Udaipur

Jaisalmer - Jodhpur
Jaisalmer - Jaipur

Jodhpur - Agra
Jodhpur - Jaipur
Jodhpur - Jaisalmer
Jodhpur - Udaipur

Khajuraho - Delhi
Khajuraho - Varanasi

Kochi (Cochin) - Goa

Tirupathi - Trivandrum (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
(Tirupathi has a well-timed overnight train to Hospet/Hampi in both directions)

Trivandrum - Goa
Trivandrum - Tirupathi (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun)
(Tirupathi has a well-timed overnight train to Hospet/Hampi in both directions)

Udaipur - Aurangabad (for Ajanta/Ellora caves)
Udaipur - Jaipur
Udaipur - Jaisalmer
Udaipur - Jodhpur

Some of the above flights start operating on 1st December, and some on 15th December, so check the schedule for full details.

Maybe some of these are hopping flights? But a gamble, yes.

Maybe a result of their buying a stake in Deccan. There is a rumour about a possible complete merger, too.

Is it me, or is it difficult to find fares there?

Interesting routes, yes.

Thanks for this posting, Steve - checked out schedules - with GPRS i hung out the washing waiting for it to complete! However, discovered you could do Jaisalmer - Delhi and vice versa by air with a no. of hops. I just hope that 1 hour 10 mins. IA flight is not cancelled!! I didn't even try the 'Fares' - took 15 mins. to open this page.

A few weeks ago I was looking on teletext for a friends flight arrival in Glasgow. There was an arrival from BOM at 0630 on a Monday morning and the airline was KFR. A bit of googling confirmed that BOM is Mumbai and KFR is Kingfisher. This looked like a direct route and would suit me for my return as I'm flexible (ie haven't booked one!).
I've drawn a complete blank from there.
I can find articles about the service, pictures of their aircraft in Glasgow etc etc But absolutely zero about times fares etc.
Can anyone help?

So, I spanked my computer for nothing

Ha Ha I thought I was the only one who had to wait forever for the transaction to complete: 45 minutes after the click! I finished making AND eating my lunch during the wait.

I have no idea what my tele-thingy is, it's probably cable since it's with the evil telephone company. But, as long as the wheels are turning, I'd be happy to wait for the transaction to be completed.

It's not that I don't like trains, I love them, but the seats don't like me There are many legs on this India trip where I will take the trains - as soon as I have learned to navigate the Indian Railway website Sometimes, you really cannot teach an old dog new tricks.

Sounds like dial-up not Broadband! Same as me.. Sleepers in trains in 2A or 1st class are o.k. for comfort - many threads here re train bookings, Indian Railway website etc. If you have dial-up could be slowish for IRCTC.

Try the following for searching for trains.

Quote:
Go to the following page.

http://www.indianrail.gov.in/inet_srcdest_names.html

Source Station Name - MURDESHWAR (for example)

Destination Station Name – KANKANADI (for example)

Class - All Class

Then click on Get It.

(Indian Railways is now 'day of week' sensitive, so if the journey you plan to take will be on a Monday, make sure you enter a date that is also a Monday to view all trains that run on a Monday)

onto next page........to get availability.

Click on circle next to train number.

Please check Days Of Run as not all trains are daily.

Look at top left of screen.....

Enter Your Journey Date - 20 - Oct. (for example)

Enter Quota - General or Foreign Tourist Quota

Look at the top right of the screen for Classes, click on the circle next to the class you want (make sure it's on the same line as the train you want).

Then click on Get Availability

If you want to see a few different dates for the same train, do not select a date, the site will give you the availability for the selected train for the next 6 times it runs, and then the next 6 and so on.

This site can be slow.

Thanks, Steve and Aisha!!!

I know I've derailed you from the Kingfisher postings with my railway grunts, so I'll meet you over there - before other Kingfisher-ers stone me
