Kingfisher Airlines

Hi all

Has anyone flown Kingfisher? I've just discovered their website and they are about 1/3 the price of Jet and India Airways!! I was wondering whether anyone got the impression that they compromise on safety or if their cheaper fares are due to not charging higher USD fares for bookings by foreigners.

Hi

I'll be flying Kingfisher late December so I can give you an update then.

But from all accounts I hear they are one of the best airlines operating in India at the moment - certainly superior to Indian Airlines.

Rash

p.s I'm in the UK and I couldnt book tickets directly via their website as they do not accept international credit cards - so I had to request a colleague in India to help out.

According to a friend who is a frequent flier and has tried all there is in terms of airlines in India, Kingfisher is the best among them. They promise royal treatment in their advertisements, and they deliver it. I wonder how come you've found them to be cheap, they usually are way too expensive!

There's quite some stuff on them already if you do a search on this site for "kingfisher airlines".

List from most expensive to cheapest (average)

Jetairways
Kingfisher Airlines
Air India
Indian Airlines
Air Sahara
Spicejet
IndiGo
Air Deccan

You can consult websites like :
makemytrip.com
travelguru.com
and my favourite : www.yatra.com (very efficient)

I flew Kingfisher last February. Definitely far better service than any domestic flights in the US. Jet Airways is also pretty good but I think usually more expensive.

Then again, I've never really had any complaints about Indian Airlines.

We've certainly NOT found that Kingfisher is more expensive than Indian Airlines!! As for service: WOW! As for food: WOW! As for planes, well all but a few are NEW, so WOW! Price is the same no matter who you are, so WOW!

The one problem is that they do not accept anything but Indian Credit cards at this time, so booking from abroad online is a bit problematic. But if you're in India, you'll just have to find someone willing to let you book it on their computer in front of them and use their credit card, then you'll reimburse them at that moment plus ofcourse they'll add a service fee of anywhere from rs 100 to 250...but it's worth it for the savings you'll get by using them over, for example Jet Airways, which for a foreigner, will cost you nearly double.

It is best to book online from a website like www.cleartrip.com so that you can compare Kingfisher fares with all the others and then make an informed decision.

That's what I heard too from friends who used to travel regularly on Kingsfisher from Kochi to Chennai and have shifted to Paramount now.

Paramount sells itself as being 'business class'. I don't know if the fares are higher?

The fares of the two are comparable mostly.Just as Kingfisher has 'Kingfisher' and 'Kingfisher First' classes,Paramount brands its economy and business class as 'Business' and 'First' respectively.A bit confusing but another way to position themselves as a cut above the plain vanilla budget carriers.

Yes their fares are not higher, so I've heard too, although they position themselves as "business class". It's just another marketing gimmick.

flykingfisher

Hi,
I booked two single flights from Delhi to Kochi
via Mumbai with Kingfisher on Sept. 2nd. I purchased
on the web site using my credit card, the transaction
was through Sabre/virtuallythere.com.The price of
our two tickets for next year was 8950.00IR. each, this
transferred to £104.59 each, with £2.80 commission.
Martin.
