is plane travel going to replace train travel
What do you think, will traveling by plane soon be cheaper and easier than traveling by train. Has anyone checked out spice jet? Is it a low fare scam?
Train travel sounds more fun than flying? |

Air travel can never "replace" train travel !
For me train travel is certainly more fun than air travel, but these things are subjective.

Not for me, hate hate hate flying. But it's a means to an end (particularly if you live on an island) so I keep doing it anyway.
If you factor in the amount of time and hassle it takes to get from most airports to the centre of town it's often not that much longer to take the train anyway ![]() |

I like the train (even when commuting in the north east) because you can move about a little more in a train..but for that same reason, I like cruises better.

is plane travel going to replace train travel? having just got home after 16 hours on a train, all I can say is; The sooner the better!
But, less selfishly, airports for every small town and a sky full of aircraft is not on really, so I guess it isn't. |

Well, I have only ;-) one month in india so i prefer to fly in 3 hrs from Delhi to Bangalore instead of 35 hrs train, for 3300 with spice jet compared to 600INR sleeper. Have stayed more than 2 weeks on indian trains, nice if you have time...

In last 18 months I have boarded a plane around 18 times...few of them business, rest of them pleasure and personal.
However now I feel that I can't do it anymore, I want to go back to trains...but just Imagine, Delhi To Trivandrum... my wildest guess would be more than 40 hours in a superfast train like Rajdhani..however its just 4 hours in a flight..with a stoppage... So it would depend on the time factor for me...I plan visit Goa sometime soon, and that would be in a train... |

For long distances in a short time you can't beat the plane - but cost factors in here. The train or bus is always cheaper. Give me the plane for the long haul, but trains are better than buses in those not so far journeys.

I don't think so...
There are areas where flying plane can't be viable at all and hence those areas would be connected only with roads or railway. So replacing Railway with Plane is never gonna be possible atleast in India due to its geographical diversity.. |

Plane take over from train ,no chance .Can you imagine trying to get on a plane with all your pots and pans and they would never let you take a chicken on board ,have you seen the size of the tables
there is no room to eat ,that size table will never hold all your various vessels .No room for entertainers ,beggars etc witch usually makes a journey pass that much quicker ! No chance ( hmmm, all depends on what you want to use the service for though ) |

I said there are places where planes can't be viable like my hometown in gujarat. There are only handful of poeple living there and most of them are even below poverty line so travelling by plane is out of question. But the place is having a Rly Station. |
