I have been booking flights with travelocity.in. They assured me by email that anyone can use their service at the rupee price. They have also given me confusing and contradictory information regarding the existence (or non-existence), of a flight to Jaisalmer. So I find their credibility somewhat tarnished. To be fair, travelocity.in has worked well on other sectors. However, I have yet to fly with the e-tickets I have booked. Pingers crossed!

Any problems with tickets from "makemytrip" for europeans?

After I've read some threads about the differences in price between "indians" and "non-indians" I'm ready to book a domestic flight with makemytrip. If I'm right, makemytrip offers tickets in INR ("indian" price) plus a small surchage - much cheaper than the price for "non-indians".
Does any european here has experiences by using the e-ticket of makemytrip later in india? Any problems because of the "indian" price?
Thanks and all the best

I was just booking flights using Ixigo, and Jetline had the cheapest.. But I decided also to check the airlines own page, and for foreigners the price was indeed higher.

Ixogo, as a searchmachine only, directly transfers me to the "select flights" page, skipping the search flights page where they as for nationality.

Hmm.. If i buy these cheaper flights trough ixigo, do you think there might be troubles getting to the plain??

Just had a look at flight bangalore to Mumbai on Jet Airways ... first by selecting India as my home destination then Australia...
Price difference (cheapest ticket on same flight same day) A$100 or around Rs3000 .. A$ quote nearly double .... A$ has been falling but not that much !!!

Ixigo just redirects you to the airline site for bookings.

Troube is, according to an earlier post, it takes you to a point after the page where you say whether or not you live in India. It only gives the option of the cheaper Rs fare.

So what some people are wondering is:
  1. Is the "foreigner fare" thing only an issue of which currency you are charged in?
  2. If an non Indian resident accepts the Rs fare as booked on Ixigo, are they in breach of the airline's terms and conditions?

I book in Rupees on whatever page Ixigo directs me to, and have never been questioned about it.

When you get to the airport check-in desk they ask to see your foreign credit card and they must be quite aware of how you've paid. I've never been asked to pay an alternate fare.

Hi Flamingo.
I used makemytrip for flights Goa-Mumbai. I got the Indian resident price and paid with international cc in rupees. Have got E-tickets but haven't used them yet

We book ours with our Indian debit card. We click "Indian" even though my husband is Indian and I am not. No one has ever hassled me about flying as an Indian or taking that fare. So I don't know why they'd notice. I never even knew about the price difference. It just made it easier than booking our tickets separately (there is not a box for one Indian, one foreigner).

Once I tried to book a flight myself with my US credit card and it was rejected until I called my bank and told them I was in India. They said a lot of credit card fraud goes through Indian servers, so they are more careful here.

I don't know if I clicked "Indian" and paid with a US credit card if it would be accepted. Interesting. I'll ask my husband if he's done that before.

Hi,

Need pointers urgently.

Does makemytrip.com (and other websites)show different fares when bookings are made from outside India (IP based differentiation).

Thanks
