Indian Airlines Rupee Fare/Dollar Fare

They say that Foreigners and Indians not resident in India must buy Dollar fares - which are massively more expensive.

Does anyone know whether they actually check at the check in. Has anyone been refused boarding because they had a rupee fare ticket?

Many thanks
Joe

The new low-cost airlines (Spicejet, Air Deccan, Kingfisher) don't discriminate. Favor them with your custom.

Are you of Indian origin? If you are then you can get away with the lower fare.

I disagree. The fares for a foreigner are 7 to 10 % more than the corresponding fares for an Indian; and I wouldn't term this "massively expensive".

The Delhi-Leh fare is an exception, where foreigners pay less than Indians !

( Reference is Indian Airlines fares )

Foreigner fares

Shimla - yes its only 10-12% if you compare full fares. BUt if you comapre the discounted fares (which are half or less if prebooked and not available to non residents) then the difference is indeed "massive"!
