Indian Airlines on INR fare as a foreigner?
i posted the chat cuz i thought probably a hundred others have the same questions in mind, like how do you authorise them, are you entitled to INR fare, etc. so that was meant to answer most questions they encounter in their thought process to speed up the booking procedure for them haha. Sorry about the spam though, i could remove it
Hm right, i understand what you mean about the digital copy, maybe next time i'll get an agent that accepts one
right now it's a little dumb, i'm scanning in everything so that i can print it out to fax when i could have just emailed it
If you haven't already faxed it, and have a digital camera, contact Pratima again.
Tell her you have signed the form in ink (remember, this is why they are insisting on fax) and ask if they would accept a digital photo by email.
Or, if your computer is set up, send the digital photo as fax from your computer.
Or... just fax the darn thing the old fashioned way.
These are minor details in the end. Enjoy your trip, post updates if you have time, and certainly post back a summary of your experience after you return.
PS. I was joking about you posting the chat session. I would have summarized it, but I personally have no problem with your decision to post it.

SOS: Missing Person...
Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?
He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

... As the moderator who approved that post, I thought it might give a few answers to many such queries on indiamike which an edited version may not.
Me too.
I've edited your email address out of every line --- although a heap of spam is probably already on its way to you, and made a quick attempt at formatting it to be more readable.
Hope that's ok.

This thing with foreign cards is really dumb but not only in use in India. I tried to book a ticket from Opodos UK using a Dutch card, no can do. I'm guessing this is to do with security but it seems like a step backward to me!!
I'm very glad that i was able to give something back to the forum that has helped me immensely over the past couple of days
and thanks to the mods who edited my post.
I agree that it is a step backwards! technology is a double-edged sword
I've eventually decided to book with Jet Airways. they accepted my singaporean mastercard and the fare wasn't too atrocious, just a bit more and i can deal with that since i dont need to compromise my credit card
at first i was really jubilant that i finally found makemytrip.com who could book the tickets for me but sending a copy of your credit card front and back with the CVC number, think about how it could potentially get into the wrong hands and be misused :\ so after discussing with the people i'm travelling with, we decided to play it safe for now

Fares on Jet Airways
Do you know about the current status of $-fares on domestic airlines in India for foreign nationals. I called Jet Airways yesterday and they said I must pay the $-fare as a foreign national; their online booking website also quotes $-fares for freign nationals. I am not sure how someone who posted on this forum was able to get the lower fare that Indians pay. Have the rules changed since April 2007?
The trick is to select "India" as your country of residence at the very first screen when you load www.jetairways.com and then voila, you get INR fare.
try entering your home country address and make payment. if that doesn't work, just key in an Indian address at the check in part, maybe a hotel that you're staying at in the city that you're departing from.
To allay your uncertainties about travelling as a foreigner on INR fare, a group of friends of mine just did that in May 07 with the INR fare e-tickets I bought for them online
no problems at all.
To repeat what I posted earlier in this thread, Jet Airways, Air Sahara and Indian Airlines have already done away with discriminatory pricing. Here's proof (as linked by machadinha): http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...how/402063.cms
Hope this helps!

Sugarhigh: Thanks for your reply.
I saw the newspaper article; but when I called Jet Airways two days ago, they said I would have to pay the US-$ fare, and yesterday I contacted makemytrip, same answer.
Your friends have actually checked this out in person recently. THat is reassuring.
