Indian Air Travel

"India is now the fastest growing aviation market in the world.

A rapidly expanding economy, incredibly cheap fares and bullish new airlines are all driving the growth.

Hundreds of new aircraft are being ordered and airports like Delhi are planning to handle up to 100 million passengers a year, more than any airport in the world does today." BBC

Kingfisher has ordered A380 planes. One such plane landed in Delhi amidst great fanfare. Experienced pilots are in short supply.

Dunno how many airlines will survive, though. They seem to be all about market share and cash flow right now... and no profitability.

I agree Capt. It seems not many of them are making a profit yet and many may never make a profit. So over the next few years I guess there will be a rationalization of the airways. Getting 2000 experienced pilots would also be difficult I would imagine.
I would be careful about booking tickets to far into the future.
