India Wonder Fares

Does anybody know how the India Wonder Fares ticket works?
This is a ticket through Indian Airlines for 7 days, I was wondering if you can book the flights beforehand or if you have to book the flight when you want to leave. This obviously makes a big difference in case there are a lot of people using this kind of ticket and flights are not available at the day you want to leave. The 7 days will be extended then but I have only got three weeks in India so not much time to hang around airports for, in some cases, two days.

Hope anyone has done this before and can let me know what their experience is.

Thanks!

India, I don't know anything specific about the Indian Airlines 7-day Wonder Fare, and am really only posting to keep this thread alive, in the hope that somebody who DOES know sees it before it sinks into oblivion.

My experience was with the Jet Airways 15-day pass. This may not operate under the same rules, of course, but it's likely that it does.

When we bought the pass, we had to specify each flight we wanted to take. We did this by telephone, and it took hours, because we'd pick a route and a day, the availability would be checked by the sales staff, and then they'd either say "ok" or "sorry, full, try again". We were told that if we changed any of the dates after that booking session, there would be a penalty to pay.

My bet is that you'll want to tell Indian Airlines your exact itinerary, and then be prepared to be a bit flexible as they alter it for you. I could be quite wrong, however.

Good luck!

I put this thread up because there is no indian airlines office in the Netherlands so getting information takes a bit of time.
I now have send an email to Indian Airlines whith these questions and hopefully they will let me know shortly. I hope it works like you have experienced with the 15 day's pass otherwise my schedule might be messed up so I am keeping my fingers crossed !

If I get an answer I will add the information to this thread in case anybody else is interested.

Thanks for your input !

The travel ticket for 7 days cost
US Dollars 300 upto 30th Sep 2004.
US Dollors 320 from 1st Oct 2004.

Maybe quite expensive but can be an option if you do not have much time and still want to see as much as you can.

Got the information from Indian Airlines, ->

Travel under the scheme is on confirmed basis only.

To buy the Discover India/India Wonder scheme in your country, and to obtain the Youth Fare discount, please contact any travel agent who can issue you a ticket on Hahn Air documents. Please find attached a list of Hahn Air associates across the world.

My husband and I bought a 3 week "Discover India" pass for 300.00 USD each. We had to know where we wanted to go but we could to go as many cities as we wanted. We are ending up going to 4 so it worked out in our favor. We saved a bit of money instead of paying for each one individually. It is explained on their web page so take a look at that. Good luck!!
