IDs on Domestic flights
Just wanted to know--are IDs required (in the sense of common procedure) for domestic flights. I mean, are ID checked when you
(1) Enter the terminal building (2) At check-in In theory I believe they are, but what about in actual practice? |

Whenever I have flown budget airlines, they have asked for a photo ID at the check in counter. I usually show them my credit card.
For entering the terminal, all you need is a ticket. |

I have never been asked for my ID except once, at Port Blair, where they put a verification stamp on your e-ticket after checking your ID. I do not see the point in this as it was done outside the terminal and the security at the terminal entrance would only check whether your e-ticket was stamped or not. No ID check was done thereafter. I could have given my e-ticket to somebody else after verification and he could have travelled on my ticket instead.

At main entrance of the airport : you need to have a valid ticket. It may be an e-ticket or an actual boarding pass couriered to you. They will only let you in 2hrs before the flight. If you have arrived before hand you can ask for the directions of the waiting lobby.
At the ticket counter : You need to have a photo ID. Its mentioned when you book e-tickets that if you are using someone elses credit card for booking tickets, you need to have a photocopy of the front & back of the credit card with the owner of the cr. card attesting the same. However i have not been in such a situation but u can take a risk there. upto you At the second check-in counter : You need just the boarding pass. Cheers

Thanks for the replies. A small doubt--if we are a party then at check-in they ask to see IDs of all of us or just one ID?

If they want to check ,then checking one ID would not suffice and hence they may check all the ids of the party.
