We dont have experience with domestic flights and were wondering if IDs are
required. I have an ID but my wife lacks an ID.
In particular are IDs required to be shown to the security personnel (on entering the terminal)
and does SpiceJet requires IDs while check-in. I mena the actual practice.
Thanks
Vishal

Have not used Spicejet, but never been asked for one at any terminal or by any carrier (Jet, Sahara, Deccan, Indian), except once when I was cancelling a ticket with Indian Airlines, and they were quite happy with a company ID card.

As per rule ID's are required for e-tickets & the budget airlines. I travelled Delhi to Bangalore by Kingfisher & had an e-ticket. I was asked to show some ID... driving licence was ok. While returning from Bangalore I wasn't asked to provide ID. Recently I travelled by Airdeccan from Delhi to Kolkata with my daughter... I was told to produce ID... then the checking in guy asked who the other traveller was I just pointed to my daughter.. that's all. Altho my daughter had her university ID but that wasn't used. I think if u have an ID then ur wife wont have any problem.

Required for e-Tickets. Any photo id incl a photo credit card seems to do. Also though rule states all pax need to have an id, one family member carrying an ID seems to be fine.

Without valid identity proof one is not allowed to enter the airport.
Also, the airline staff would also check the passenger's identity card before issuing the boarding card.
