How far in advance to book tickets?

Hi all,

We're hoping to take a Spice Jet flight from Varanasi to Delhi on Friday, October 24 - the day before our flight home from Delhi. We really want to be assured that we'll have seats on the plane, but are also apprehensive about booking TOO far in advance, just in case something happens.... Does anyone know whether these flights tend to fill up quickly? Do the airfares increase with time?

Many thanks in advance for any insight!

High season starts from Oct because of different festival in India. It is better to book seats early and if there is a possibility of changing dates then better to take refundable tickets.Spice is a no-frill airline and normally issue non-refundable tickets.

That's the risk that everyone takes with air tickets all over the world - do I buy early and cheap, with the danger that my plans might change, or do I leave it until my plans are certain and pay a bit (or a lot) more?

There is no definitive answer.

Thanks for your replies. Seems that SpiceJet does allow for reservation changes, with a (not too large) fee. I'm going to book them now, and hope all goes smoothly! Thanks again for the moral support.

But why fly when there are so many direct trains between Varanasi and Delhi?
