Makemytrip.com are requesting that I send scanned copies of my credit card . I have already given then my credit card details which they presumably have verified.
Is this safe and normal practice for Internet flight booking ? Thanks Dave |

I don't remember if I had to do this when I purchased tickets through them in '04. I've dealt with them a few times since I've lived in India.
However, just to allay your fears. Makemytrip is a legitimate and well established travel agency, but can be somewhat uneven in their response time. If you have any questions you should speak to the supervisor, or someone in charge to confirm.

I have bought an international fare in 2004 - dealt with Delhi (service can be disjointed and unhelpful - make contact with a client service manager if problems) - but paid to their office in Sydney (don't know if this still exists).

Few months back there were credit card frauds where the fraudesters had purchased tickets to the tune of 10 lacs. The companies as a safe guard now ask for a scanned copy of credit card from foreigners making online purchases in India

Dual Pricing
Hi everybody,
Just wanted to mention that if you're staying in India for more than 6 months and have registered with the police, you can qualify for the Indian fare on airlines. Just use your registration papers as proof you're a resident. (This also often works at monuments and museums, depending on who happens to be working the front desk) |

I paid online with a mastercard. Everyting went smootly. I got a e-mail confirmation with electronic nummer on it. It was a flight from Bangalore to Bhubaneswar. I will surely going to do this kind of thing, more often. ps. If I remember well, I first had to enscribe at the site, before I could book succesfully |

I just booked a fare on MakeMyTrip.com for which only paper tickets are valid (not e-tickets). It is an Indian airlines flight from Bangalore to Male, Maldives. They are requesting an Indian address to send the paper tickets. I am not going to have an Indian address in the nearest future as I don't plan to go to India until late October. If anyone who has been in a similar situation reads this post then any tips would be appreciated.

I already did and the answer I received was that I have to give them "the Indian Address" as we cant courier Outside India. Not very helpful. I was also asked to send my credit card information by fax, which I am also reluctant to do. I think I am just going to contact a non-Indian travel agent for this flight.
For some reason this flight is not available on Expedia - otherwise I would use them. Yesterday I booked a flight from Delhi to Bangalore through them, without any problem. |

Sorry edwardseco - I didn't see your reply yet when I was replying. No I don't have a hotel in India yet. I am planning a trip through Rajasthan through NamasteIndiaTours. I already sent them an email but haven't received a reply yet so no hotel has been booked yet. I would also prefer to have these tickets already when starting my journey to India.
