Has anyone tried the Airport Express in Delhi?

HI all - I am trying to catch a train that departs 2 hours after my domestic flight arrives at Indira Gandhi. We will NOT have to gather any checked luggage (only carryons). I am looking into quick travel option t NZM to catch a train that departs at 7:00pm. Has anyone tried the Airport Express? The following is the text form the airport website. HAS ANYONE USED THIS SERVICE? ANY TIPS?

"Recently a superfast airport express has been put in service to connect the airport with the central part of New Delhi.

The airport express is currently operating from 05:00 AM till 11:00 PM with a frequency of 20 minutes. The airport express operates between Dwarka Sector 21 and New Delhi Railway Station via IGI Airport Terminal 3, Aerocity, Dhaula Kuan, Shivaji Stadium (Connaught Place) & New Delhi Railway Station."

The Airport express metro goes to NDLS not NZM (Hazrat Nizamuddin). It is about 8km by road from NDLS to NZM

i dont think that airport express goes to nizamudin
it runs between airport - new delhi airport'and takes 20 min and fare is 80 rs

thank you both for your reply. Have you used it? Is it reliable? Is it overcrowded? I was thinking of taking it the Connaught and then cabbing it to NZM?

Sorry - I was thinking of taking the airport express to Shivagi and then autorickshaw or cab to NZM? My flight arrives in terminal 1D (Spicejet domestic). If my flight arrives at 5:00pm and my train departs at 7:00 for NZM do you think I can make it? I can buy my delhi aiport express ticket before-had to save a few minutes. Again, no checked luggage.

I don't think you can make it. Airport Express departs from T3 and not T1D. It will take 30-45 minutes from T1D to T3 by shuttle and another 45-60 minutes from T3 to NDLS via Airport Express, not to mention that you may not get off your plane at exactly 5 pm.

Though Airport Express is reliable, your flight may not!

You would be in time crunch if you keep your present schedule.

It would be advisable to take another train or you may change to another flight which lands at T3 (in either case - if available)!

Hi, you can also do that get down at shivaji and then take an auto, but it will take you a lot of time also you cant guarantee auto availability at shivaji stadium. Please be sure that you have a lot of time to reach Nizamuddin specially when you don't have checked in luggage..once you reach the departure terminal rush to merucabs counter (check there website for details) were you will get cabs immediately..you can easily reach Nizamuddin railway stn. Just check on which platform your train will come from indian railways website and if its on time. Railways have customer care number as well to check on the updates on the trains arriving that day.

I had used airport express, it is fast and not crowded.
But as you are landing on T1 & it is from T3, so it is not practical to opt for airport express.
Take any of the radio cab, it will be better for you.

Thanks! I was thinking of taking a cab, but some others on the site felt I would not make it in 2 hours. We will NOT have any checked luggage - only carry ons.

Would you suggest making a cab reservation? Would this be faster than going to the counter?

How much time, with average traffing, do you think it will take to get to NZM from T1 if flight is supposed to arrive 5:00pm?

You would find a lot of radio-cabs waiting outside to pick the passengers! You may pick any one of those cabs!
