good old air india

Found out today that Air India has cancelled all flights from Calcutta to Bangkok (and some others as well, I think}
I discovered this today when checking my itinerary on line. They didn't think it necessary to notify anyone. Not me anyway, nor my agent.
So back to the drawing board for our trip in Oct/Nov. I really wanted to fly back from Calcutta this time, but at least I have found a good fare with Malaysian, AUD 1,150 return to Delhi, plus taxes ($136.50 )from Brisbane, including 3nights in Malaysia, B & B.
Reminds me of the time we rolled up to the airport in Leh to catch a flight to Srinigar, only to find out that, never mind the ticket, the flight didn't exist. Still, in retrospect, the 2 day bus trip was something else.
Hope no-one else has been mucked around by Air India's latest exploit.
Cheers

Thai, Singapore, and Ryl Brunei also fly out of Calcutta. Problem for me is not the single segments, but finding the most economical return package. We will take the Malaysian deal and travel to and from Calcutta by train.
Also booking flights Varanasi/Khajuraho, and Khajuraho/Delhi with Jet Airways, which seems to have a much better reputation than Indian Airlines. (You can get 25% senior citizens' discounts with Jet! Not much use to most of you I suppose.)
Cheers
