Foreign credit card acceptance. (domestic flights)

I just checked with ixigo.com and this is the latest info they have on airlines that fly domestic routes, and if they accept foreign credit cards.

Air India YES
Indian Airlines NO (merged with Air India, so why not?)
Jet Airways YES
Kingfisher YES
MDLR Airlines NO
Paramount NO

Low cost airlines.

Air India Express YES
Deccan YES
Go Air YES
Indigo YES (see post 7)
JetLite YES
Spicejet YES

Jagson Airlines - if anyone ever sees a Jagson flight, let me know, apparently they're still in business, but none of their flights seem to exist, and the only info from the website says "no availability for that day, please try the next day" - and it says that for all routes and for every day, maybe they're just the most successful airline in the world.

If you want to book a flight on an airline that won't accept your credit card, try cleartrip.com, I have not used them, but other indiamike members have without problems, I also don't know anything about their charges, I think the charge is small, but others can confirm this or give more info.

Here's more info about cleartrip and the cards they accept.

http://blog.cleartrip.com/journal/20...dit-cards.html

If anyone gets any updated info, please reply to this thread.

perhaps the paperwork hasn't been completed yet! or - possibly they have two different electronic clearing systems so one can process foreign cards, the other can't.

Thanks for the list, Steven!

I was "unpleasantly" surprised on a few occasions when trying to book domestic flights online. Then, after the shock, I called/emailed my trusty "inside" guy at makemytrip.com (Mr. Deepak Sharma). But I too am surprised that Indian Airlines is still not taking foreign credit cards.

Cheers!

Interesting, so they should be accepting foreign credit cards.

I've sent 6 e-mails, one to each of those with a NO next to their name, and one to Jagson, hopefully I'll have replies to all of them by monday (though my e-mail address has been having problems for months).

Indian Airlines still not accepting International credit cards, though they hope this will change soon.

IndiGo now accept International credit cards, they sent the following reply....

Quote:
The payment gateway integrated on our website for accepting payment for online bookings was temporarily blocked on international credit cards, this has been done to prevent misuse of credit cards. However, now international Credit cards will be accepted to make online bookings. As per the following condition of carriage:

IndiGo accepts MasterCard, American Express and VISA at IndiGo Call Centre, www.goindigo.in, and http://mobile.goindigo.in IndiGo accepts International (Non-Indian) Credit Cards on a restricted basis. This is subject to the following terms and conditions:

* Only Visa, MasterCard and American Express Cards are accepted.
* The credit card needs to be shown at the airport check–in counter for physical verification.
* The passenger name and credit card name should match.
* If there are multiple passengers booked on a PNR, at least one of the passengers should be the Credit Card holder.
* If more than one credit card has been used to make a booking, both card holders should be part of the traveling party, and should show the credit cards for physical verification.
* If a booking is partially modified or cancelled, it would still be subjected to the above terms and conditions.
* Passengers) who are unable to produce the physical credit card, and/or passengers whose photo id does not match the physical credit card, will not be allowed to board the aircraft. The bookings of such customers may be cancelled by IndiGo.

Cash and credit cards are also accepted at IndiGo Airport Counters, participating Travel Partners and IndiGo Shops.

Futher,IndiGo
bookings and payments can be made at the following points of sale:

As Ouzodave pointed out, GoAir do accept International credit cards, I get the following info from them.

Quote:
With reference to your mail, we thank you for your interest shown in GoAir. Kindly note the bookings can be done by the international cards through our website www.goair.in utilizing the credit card (Master card / Visa).
So, all the large airlines except Indian Airlines accept International credit cards.

I'm still waiting for a reply from Paramount (business class only airline flying routes in the south of India) and MDLR (Chandigarh based, with flights from Delhi to Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Ranchi & Kolkata) and Jagson (invisible airline flying invisible routes).

Hi!

Well, this might sound stupid... but I hope someone would answer this...
I and my children are not Indian citizens. When I try to buy Indian Airlines tickets online through yatra.com I am required to select the option:
"I am an Indian National/Resident By checking this box I confirm that I have read and agreed to the
Terms and Conditions."

So, does this mean that all foreigners must pay in USD rates and not in INR rates?

Suggest that you check out the many, many problems that members have been posting about, abhijit.

My latest problem, towards the end of last year with a flight to Hyderabad, was they would not accept a foreign credit card or an Indian Debit card. for online booking that seems to me to be ridiculous. I applied for an Indian credit card just for the next time.

I am sorry to note that. But,on line or from the office, both credit and debit cards are accpetable in Indian Airines now Air India.I guess, that was a card related problem in the system and the same may occur in case of Indian cards also as I have experienced that sometimes it refused to accept and on occassions the card was accepted but no ticket was generated.

No... this was an absolute non-acceptance of either my British Mastercard or my Axis debit card.

There's no point in going further, as I can't remember the other essential details like which airline it was, but I seem to remember that we needed several long telephone calls to the airline to buy our ticket.

credit card bookings

Hi all,
prior to my last visit to india in feb this year i prebooked flight tickets 5 mths before travelling using my debit card.
i booked flights with spice jet from mumbai to goa return for my self wife and son.
On arrival at mumbai i was told that my tickets were invalid as the debit card i used had been renewed and i had not kept my old card , despite being in the same name and same account.
As a result i was told i would have to repurchase my tickets using my new card and that my account would be reimbursed for the original ticket price.
This i did but guess what, i am still waiting to be reimbursed for my original ticket cost despite several e mails to spice jet giving them all the info they requested.
I suspect that i will never get my refund despite spice jet reassurances given to me in mumbai.
So pleased be warned regarding this,
personally i will never use spice jet again whilst travelling in india.
