Unhappy Fog at Delhi airport - a personal experience

Well of course the weather in Northern India has been exceptional. Returning back to UK from Delhi last Tuesday/Wednesday was tedious. Firstly, the BA regular flight scheduled to leave Delhi at 03.25 was rescheduled for 12.30 pm (it actually took off at 15.30)

Then there was the crowd at the airport caused by the concertina effect of the fog free window. Firstly the queue to get through passport control was something else. Once through there was the next queue to the man who fondles you and checks for hidden devices. Both queues moved very very slowly. A good one hour for each, or was it two.

So my advice is - if you are thinking of travelling to or from Delhi in January - BEWARE of the delays and the FOG.

Be lucky that you flew with BA and not Air India.
We tried to come home one week earlier we stayed in hotels in Mumbai, (due to fog in Delhi), Delhi (due to fog) instead of departing at 2200 only departing next day at 17:00. Conclusion we missed our connecting flight so we had to stay in another hotel in Frankfurt. A big thanks to Air India for the costs of two extra holiday days! We had an extra queue at Delhi airport because they took our passports due to staying in hotels. And guess what ..the bags with passports were missing of 300 passengers so you can imagine what happened. (they found the passports finally). It is really true that Delhi airport is very bad organised.

Just don't get me started on Aeroflot at Delhi airport! Last year it took them 3 and a half days from Delhi to London instead of 14 hours! We should have a thread about the worst journey's to and from India.
