Flying from Bagdogra to Delhi Same Day as Int'l Flight

I'm trying to maximize my time in Darjeeling at the end of the trip in mid-March. My international flight leaves Delhi at 10:30pm. Am I crazy to try to fly from Bagdogra to Delhi that same day? I would plan to take the Spice flight that arrive in Delhi at 5pm, but there's a back-up flight on Jet that arrives at 6pm. So I would have a back-up flight and a 4.5 or 5.5 hour buffer before the international flight. But I'm not sure how the reliability is on these routes or if unforseen things (like weather, etc.) are likely to foil my plans.

Is this absolutely insane or do-able? Thanks!!

If you have a flight that arrives in Delhi at 5pm, you should be fine to get to the airport in plenty of time.

And, if you wind up like me, where the airline changes the flight details (without notifying you) and leaves you stranded in Delhi, you may still be able to get another flight back home, by paying a small "rebooking" fee.

Cheers

I did the same journey in April and it was fine (my international flight left 1am) but the Spice jet from Bagdogra was great, just allow yourself lots of time for the journey down from Darjeeling as the road is not quite as good as it could be -you will see what I mean on the way up!
I did 20 flights in 10 weeks and all but one was on time, better than here in Europe.I even missed a flight (my fault) and everyone at Jet went into emergency mode and I was on the next plane out of Delhi in about 30 mins. Its always wise to check online (plenty of internet cafes) the day before about your flight as sometimes there are things like weather complications but that time of year you should be fine.Keep your eyes on the Darjeeling threads as there is a bit of unrest in the area which mostly means labour strikes, one day its the bus drivers the next day the tourist office/toy train etc Don't let this put you off its a great place.

Enjoy
