Hi again
A pertinent question raised on an Indian travel yahoo discussion group - Has anyone had problems with E Tickets at Indian airports. They've been around a while I know but this was raised and I suddenly thought about it, standing in Mumbai airport clutching a photocopy of my flight details. You know how it can get. Mind needs putting at rest, please help. Phil.

Same question for me : next time will be my first time to fly India with e-ticket.
Just to keep the thread alive. |

Shouldn't you be able to get ticket receipts (to and fro) when you take your itinerary to the check-in counter? That way, on return from India, you could show the ticket receipt rather than the itinerary. I guess I will find out next Friday when I leave for India from Boston...

Actually, I have had problems with purchasing e-tickets online, hard copy and using e-tickets.
Like most places in the world, receipts are important as well as any paper trail proof you can produce. If you paid, with a credit card, you will also need the credit card you made the purchase with. Bottom line, have all your documentation and proof handy and be polite but persistent in speaking to a manager. My experience: In the paper ticket case, the time/date on the hard copy did not match the airline's computer. The agent summarily dismissed us and told us we would have to talk to our agent in Bangalore which would have left us in Delhi for 24 additional hours. More on this below. I also have had issues talking on the phone with both Air Deccan and Sahara Air folks. In Air Deccan's case, purchasing an e-ticket was problematic (I am still dealing with a double charge on my debit card from Air Deccan) and, in Sahara Air case, trying to re-book a cancelled flight (due to weather) was problematic. In both phone cases, I calmly, but persistently asked to be transferred to a manager. Air Deccan agents have hung up on me and I have consistently got disconnected. But their managers are quite professional once you are able to get through to them In the Air Sahara at-the-airport case, asking to talk to the manager at the airport got us on the flight that day, and, in the case of the cancelled flight, I had to talk to two agents before I got a manager who gave me the information.
