Duty Free Purchases

I am travelling from Toronto to Delhi, via Amsterdam . Where is the best place to make duty free purchases to and from Delhi?

Is it better for me to buy from Delhi? Amstedam? On the KLM Airline?

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

You are only allowed 2 litres of alcohol, 200 cigarettes and other gifts up to Rs.4000/- in value.

If you want good wine, buy it in Amsterdam. If you just want some Scotch and cigarettes, but them in Delhi.

As for your Rs.4000/- in gifts... maybe buy them in Toronto?

DEL's duty free is a bloody disappointment. Prices are in US, and a 40 of vodka was $20 IIRC. Its just western crap you can buy from Costco for half the price. DF up in AMS would be interesting.

I agree - buy in Amsterdam. Delhi doesn't have much in the way of Duty Free items.

Cigarettes were about US$10/carton (200) in Delhi than they were in Frankfurt, so if you're a smoker, Delhi may still be the place to shop.

The souvenir stores at Delhi airport are hideously expensive; the same goods are dirt cheap at the state emporia.
