Delays at Bangalore & Chennai Airports
Due to very heavy flooding all over Tamil Nadu right now, especially Bangalore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Pondy, Chennai and all surrounding areas, you should expect delays in take-off's and landings at both airports of at least Chennai and Bangalore (possibly Cochin also). Flights into Chennai are being re-directed into Bangalore - and apparantly, if you read all the news cuttings, vise-versa too!! Many deaths have been reported in these areas from trees being unearthed, countless road accidents in floods from knee-height to hip-height. Be prepared for delays and redirected planes!!

Just checked on the weather for Tamil Nadu for the next 15 days and more heavy rain is forecast! Make sure to check your flight into Bangalore or Chennai, and possibly Cochin also, has not been cancelled as apparantly there is a bit of a backlog of flights trying to get into these airports. Diversions are a BIG possibility when travelling to these airports in the near future......Bah!

Nope.....'tis just the season of the monsoon....you know how long we've been praying for rain in Krishnagiri - 9 and a half years!!! Don't worry about it - I'm just making people aware of what MIGHT happen - better to have been warned about it first eh!

Shanthi, hope your journey goes ok: I'd forgotten about the weather when I was reading your thread.
My lady says that Chennai has has the most rain since 1967!!!! In many ways this is good for this over-dry city, but many streets have seen water 2-3 ft deep (she told me that one 24-hour period saw 27cm rain!). Very, very bad for anyone living or running a business from basement premises. Anyway, the reservours are apparently full and overflowing, so will someone tell it ic can stop now?
