Deccan !!

Hi all
AIR DECCAN is the topic of this thread . I fly to delhi pretty regularly and have travelled over all airlines AIR DECCAN was i alway s avoided on my lesiure trip s my first preference was alway s to KINGFISHER AIRLINES
But i used to alway s be attracted to the air deccan used to offer but it s services were not something to talk about !!
Kf on the other hand has set new standards in services !! in flight ground and all !!!
NOW after a takeover of deccan by kf (sort of takeover)i hope that certain services like reaching on time and all should be taken to deccan too !!
on my recent trip to leh i saw deccan doing del-leh-del too but was travelling by road so did nt get a chance to use their services so fellow indiamikers who have used the services of deccan in recent comment about it please >

Excellent service last month, Bhubaneswar-Hyderabad. E-ticket booked with non-India credit card. Efficient check-in, good on-board drinks (juice, coffee) and snack (pastry) service.

With Air Deccan, you get what you pay for. Having said, that , I think it is worth every penny if you can tolerate:

1. the lack of refreshments on flight
2. Cramped leg room on the newer planes
3. Receiving low priority at airports when it comes to gate assignment. You will usually be bused to the from the plane
4. the lack of baggage transfer services between flights
5. Impossibilty of reaching customer service reps on the phone
6. lack of assigned seating on flights

They do have paid stuff...you can always buy the refreshments !! And please note that it is a domestic flight..not many flights would be longer that 3 hours..I feel that time is bearable enough..and at the airports you do have canteens/confectionary shops...also you can carry your own food onboard...

I am yet to board a plane other than Airbus A320 from Deccan, maybe a Boeing a couple of times..however legroom is same as Economy Class of Indian, or other low cost carriers like Spicejet..

never encountered this as well, have used the Delhi airport a lot, can they have a dedicated gate.

The only problem I have encountered is with the refunds section of the phone service, however otherwise I have never waited for more than 2 minutes for scheduling, cancellation, booking of information...and I say this after calling them couple of dozen times..

Now they do have assigned seating..otherwise as well, it was not a problem with a normal passenger..

I have used deccan lots of times in the last 3 years. mMybe I was lucky... I never got a problem. I think they are excellent value for money. Maximum delay I have faced - 2 to 3 hrs. But on those occasions it was due to airport congestion and all flights(jet, King fisher etc)were delayed.
I have done the delhi-leh-delhi on air deccan too..... again - no complaints. they were less than half the price I would have to pay for jet or Indian airlines.
