Connecting flight strategies

Hi, Forum-

I'm planning a first trip around India this fall and have a question. Two actually. Here's one:

In general, when flying within India, how long between an arriving flight and departing flight would you leave?

Specifically, I am choosing a flight into Chennai from Delhi. Our flight onward leaves what is technically early in the morning on Sept 19th, and I have to choose between getting into Chennai on the 18th (preferable) or if it's wise to leave a just-in-case day, and get in on the 17th. The carrier is probably Kingfisher.

Also, (This taking place earlier in the trip) we are planning on flying to Leh from Delhi. This flight is early, and we'll get into Delhi the previous evening. Does anyone have any recommendation for a place to crash convenient to the airport? My guides discuss a lot of places in Delhi, but nothing near the airport.

Thanks. Sorry if this is redundant-

Dave

Re. Airport hotels:
Depends what your budget is really. There are the usual chain hotels and I think Radisson is the closest with shuttle and is around 4km from the airport. However, it is 5 star.

If you have more than 8 hrs in between flights and want budget hotels then just get a pre-paid taxi to Paharganj. Main bazaar for really cheap, Ram Nagar for slightly more upmarket such as Ajanta.

Regarding your question on chennai, if the connecting flights are domestic and international, provide 3 to 4 hours. Should be ample time.

Regarding staying in Delhi, not much idea. You can also check out ginger and lemontree in gurgaon et al. Do not know what your budget is.

There is also one called residences...tariffs vary from around 3.5KINR upwards.

All the best

Ribhu, why do you bump all old posts ?? The questions put by OP have been answered to their satisfaction. No need to bump old posts.
