Checking luggage through on connecting domestic flights

Does anyone know if you can you check luggage through to your final destination if you use different carriers. I believe Jetlite belongs to Jet airlines; if we use Jet airlines on the first leg of the journey and Jetlite for the last part would our luggage be checked through? or do we have to collect it and do another check-in?

If you can make clear the legs of your flights, we might be able to answer. Are these flights both domestic, or is one an international flight connecting to a domestic?

I think you can only ask when you get to the check in counter at Udaipur - they will tell you if your luggage will continue on to Goa.

With international flights you always have to pick it up first and clear it through customs, prior to a domestic flight.

If it was on the same PNR or reservation, then the answer is yes. Final destination is were the luggage will be tagged for.

... However, it can never hurt to ask (and ask, and ask) about it.

Traveling anywhere, I mean, not just in India.

The domestic airline staff we dealt with in India were highly professional - they'll tell you whether it's possible or not.

Thanks everyone, the cheapest option was Jet to Mumbai then spicejet to Goa but I've decided to do both legs with Jet it doesn't cost that much more 500rps but if we have a better chance of not queueing for another check in I would rather pay extra.

I agree, Mach. I always ask at the check in counter re luggage handling, whether it will go to final destination etc. I also check the labels they stick around the handles or whatever, and see everything is printed out correctly.

Over the years I have heard so many stories of luggage going astray one way or another, it is wise to ask at all times!
