Check in time ?

How long (minimum) in advance one must check in at Delhi airport before the plane leaves to Kathmandu, I arrive to Delhi by train and I wonder if I will have time enought.
An so, how long (in time) is the trip from Delhi Railway Station to Delhi airport?

Instead of some general useful info, give train and flight details and maybe you'll get some very useful info regarding your own plans.

90 minutes to airport + 2 hours to check in......useful general advice.

That train always runs 2 hours late....or....you'd be better to get off that train at Nizamuddin......could be considered more useful info.

Ok, I travel from Varanasi to Delhi by train, and then I want to go to Kathmandu by plane (it seems impossible to book a seat at VNS-KTM flights)

SHIV GANGA EXPRESS coming from Varanasi, est arriving time 7:25


PLANE ->
option a)
SAHARA AIRLINES flight to Kathmandu, leaving at 12:00
option b)
JET AIRWAYS flight to Kathmandu, leaving at 12:55
option c)
INDIAN AIRLINES flight to Kathmandu, leaving 13:40

Which should be the suitable opcion, a, b, c ?

Some people say that with the confusion at the being rennovated airport 3 hours may be necessary..

I'd try anything to book a VNS-KTM flight, maybe a travel agent.

About 4 days ago I read that the Shiv Ganga was 3 and a half hours late getting to Delhi, I'll just go and check.....

13th - 1 hour late
12th - 50 minutes late
11th - 1hour 20 minutes late
10th - 1hour 55 minutes late

Can't check any further back.

Just checked a couple of other trains from Mughal Sarai (18kms from Varanasi), trains from Mughal Sarai are generally more reliable, but there were still the occasional 2 hour delay.

So I'd say that you're best to assume that your train will arrive up to 2 hours late.

It's been my experience that this largely depends on what time you are heading to the airport.

I've done an early morning run (around 7am) and it was very quick (around 45 minutes).

Then I've also done an evening run (around 6pm) and it seemed to take forever (didn't keep a track of the time) - I just remember that it was bumper to bumper traffic.

It's been my experience that as far as check-ins go, you can't do it any earlier than 2 hours before hand.

Going from VNS to DEL in order to fly to KTM is crazy.

Look into going by bus. Or, as already suggested above, so try contacting a travel agent in India who can book the direct flight for you.

I travel with my whole family, wife and children, we cannot go so long trip by bus

Indian fly VNS-KTM on tue, thu, sat and sun. If you don't manage to book online, go through your local agent.

edited to add: I just searched my usual online agent and the flight showed up, through a ticketing service but with the normal IC flight number. This means that I can book it from Germany, so Spain should be no problem.

Well it is true that for 07/10/08 IC 752 shows C0 W0 D0 M0 - in other words no seats according to GDS.
