Cheaper US-India flights too

The new "open skies" policy replaces a decades-old agreement which restricts flights, the destinations they can fly to and air fares. The new agreement is expected to lead to lower air fares between India and the United States.

hmmmmmm

[quote=neomadd]I suppose if you're happy about the airlines making more money, or you don't like Brits it is a good thing.QUOTE]

Why is it good for there to be more flights if you dont like brits? more chance of plane crashes?????

I cant see anything bad about it. Cheaper travel for Indians, Europeans, americans/canadians.

More tourism dollars for India, better business oportunities for both.

more travel = less prejudice

so now the price will drop from us1400 to us1100 -when it should be us900 anyway. sorry to be a cynic, prices are high because of the indians, not yanks. only when virgin gets a crack will the prices drop. dont wait on this if all youve got is awful 'murkan carriers and dreary/poor value/service indian flights.

How are the prices high because of Indians?
And when do you guys think we will start to see the prices drop?

Virgin have been flying to India for a while. It has had no impact on lowering fares. Virgin offer a quality service at a high price. The Virgin fare to India is the same as that for BA.

His theory is that the airlines price-discriminate against non Indians where $1000 is a week's work, compared to 2 years work for some Indians, thus, Westerners have to pay more to subsidize these people. Like monkgonemad, I'm not a controller or analyst for the airlines, so really, I cannot say.

Prices won't noticbly drop, but they tend to go down when there's more competetion. 9W's newly announced flights outta India will definately put pressure on Air India.
