Hi and welcome to the forum. For a multiple destination trip like this, I would suggest you booking through orbitz, expedia, or travelocity. Here's a link to the orbitz website for multiple destinations.
http://www.orbitz.com/App/ViewMultiSearch?z=jvny&r=1i

It should be able to get you a decent price. Alternatively you can check the individual airline websites like:

www.ual.com
www.aa.com
www.southwestairlines.com

These may yield even cheaper prices but try the orbitz link abover first so you can get a rough estimate.

Hope this helps.

Hi and welcome:

It may work out to be less expensive using a "Visit USA" air pass. Multiple airlines offer this program (I think -- not sure). Here is just one sample:

Example of an air pass program

I would try a Google search to get more information.

Some unsolicited advice? While in Albuquerque, check out the Atomic Energy Museum, and head west into Navajo and Pueblo Indian country, as well as Canyon de Chelly and Chaco National Park. Make sure you take in a couple of live music acts while in Austin. St Louis -- home to the Cardinals, fun to catch a ballgame (get someone to teach you how to keep score yourself) and the mighty Mississipi river -- have always wanted to take a river cruise, never done it. Los Angeles has the Getty Museum nearby, great burgers, chili dogs and juice bars, not to mention a uniquely American vibe.

But this is an Indian travel forum. I guess we're both digressing . . . .

As shpatel and gayamom suggested -- price all the domestic (intra US) flights using Orbitz.com and then compare that price to a comparable VUSA ticket (whhich is available only outside the US) if the VUSA is cheaper, then buy it before you leave India.
