Anyone know if there are chartered flights from Cyprus to Goa ? Or what would the Cyprus-anywhere in UK-charter to Goa cost ? and is it possible to fly one way

Regular charter flights to Goa are only in the December-March 'season' -- last winter there were only flights from the UK, Germany, and a very limited number from Russia (as far as I know). Prices vary during the season according to demand -- ie higher during the Christmas/New Years period, and usually considerably less before and after. I have no idea if it would be worth it to fly Cyprus-Uk to catch a charter -- generally charters are round trip and include an accomodation package. Sometimes the charters are cheap enough that people do fly one way and toss the return portion -- probably that would only be the case for a last-minute super deal as the organizer sweats to fill the last few seats.

Don't know what will happen for the coming winter, the comments above are based on observations while in Goa the past few winters (from travellers and newspaper flight info), I'm not in the travel business and personally fly via the Pacific rather than through Europe.

Julls your post caught my interest so I have had a look around at UK charter flights and possible travel arrangements for trips from Larnaca to Goa.

Charter flights from the UK go on a "there and back basis" so while it may be that one or two carriers refuel somewhere in the Eastern Med you are not going to get a ticket to Goa from Cyprus too easily, not without bribing someone! Most fly an Airbus or Boeing 767 and do the trip without a stop.

If you want to take advantage of an offer from the UK, -m2- is right and I cannot find anything particularly cheap on the Internet at the moment on a "flight only" basis.

It may be worth looking at hopping on a "local" scheduled flight to Bahrian, Damascus, Riyadh or Dubai the taking an onward scheduled flight from there.

A good place to look would be www.emirates.com. Emirates operates codeshare arrangements from Larnaca to Dubai and onwards to Delhi, Chennai, and Cochin.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the info, just wanted to let m2 know that you get charters from Cyprus to Goa for as low as 60 pounds at times throughout the year. I have done Larnaca-amman-bom (Royal Jordanian) and Larnaca-dubai-bom (Emirates) and even Larnaca-damascus-kuwait-bom (Kuwait Airways) in the past. They all worked out between US$700-800. Emirates gives you the best deal, not only is their in flight service fantastic, you also get free accomodation at Rydges Plaza in Dubai, never experienced a better hotel room all my life.

That is a pretty good price to London for sure.

Since you mentioned the middle east as a transit, it reminded me that there were regularly scheduled flights to/from Dubai last year; I thought it was with Emirates, but don't see such a flight on their website. The only scheduled international flights to Goa that I can find now are with Indian Airlines -- twice weekly to/from Kuwait and from Sharjah. Don't know if IA discounts on those routes or has an arrangement with an airline with connections to Larnaka; you'd have to check with a local agent. IA is a pretty enthusiastic discounter on some of their other international flights (BKK-various Indian cities anyway), but don't know in this case as they apparently have no competition.

If you can get a deal to Mumbai, the flights are quite expensive onward to Goa (over $100US with various fees included), but an overnite train is quite convenient and if the Indian RR site prebooking isn't suitable for you, the Konkan RR does have a prebooking plan for 3ac berths on a convenient night train. (details in a thread at the top of the Transportation section)
