Calicut (Kozhikode) - Goa
Hi there,
I'm having a hard time finding a flight or train connection for December 2008 between Kozhikode to Goa. As I'm planning to visit my relatives in Thalassery (Tellicherry), where I'm going up by train from Ernakulam (Cochin) I'd like to continue my short India trip (preferably by air) to Goa without spending another (transit) hotel. I've checked the Indian Railways' homepage and Jet Airways's one (as we are most probably going for the 15 days airpass) plus Indian Airlines' but couldn't find any decent connection without getting rid of another bucks on hotel. It's even harder to find the right train connection from Calicut or Tellicherry to Goa Help anyone? Thanks a lot, fkaway |

Not sure what to advise; you'll obviously need to get all the placenames you're thinking of spelled right, or spelled right the way those sites list them rather (and remember there is no place called "Goa." It's a state, not a city. Its airport is Dabolim I believe, code GOI [or VAGO].)
For station codes and possible spelling variations, try this page (massive, so slow-loading): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ons_in_In dia . Wikipedia itself can also be handy to look up any placename and help you think of possible spelling alternatives. Other than that, in the "travel links" link in my signature you'll find some more sites that will hopefully help you in your travel planning, both for air and train. Good luck with it.

Go to the Indian Railway website and type in a trip from Calicut to Kalyan, and you will get the names of the trains. Make sure the one you choose follows the Konkan route, i.e it has stops such as Ratnagiri, Panaji and Madgaon. Most of these trains will reach Panaji/Thalassery during weird hours. Netravathi Express would be a good one to look for. |

Thank you both for your inputs! I've now figured it out and adjusted the routing as I'll actually go south starting in Calicut and leave Kerala out of Cochin - by air
