Buying internal Indian flights from USA
I'm presently in America and will be returing to Mother India in early March. I want to buy a JetAirways ticket from Delhi to Bagdogra. I am lucky enough to have a resident's permit, which allows me to buy internal air tickets at local prices. However, my travel agent told me I have to buy this ticket from someone IN India to get the price. Is this true? If so, how does one do this?
thanks folks! |

you can buy tickets over the web. Jet, unlike Indian airlines, does not price discriminate between Indian resideents and foreigners. Jet also offers ticketless travel, so you don't need to have an address fo the ticket to be mailed.

I checked the website for Jet and they point out several times that the rupee price is different from the dollar price, but they give no indication how to get the rupee price. I emailed them and am waiting for a reply, but who knows how long that's going to take!
I am trying to avoid taking Indian Airlines. |

i think if you are under 30, you can get jet airways ticket like 30% cheaper if you were to buy it in india... this option wasn't available when i purchased mine on the internet...

ckforum: I'm not sure of the spelling. Maybe it's "residence". Anyway, I was staying in India for 8 months studying Tibetan, and I got this permit through the Foreign Registration Office in Darjeeling. It means I don't have to leave the country every 6 months and that I am supposed to get local prices on things like airfare and train tickets. Still need an answer to my original question of how to get a ticket bought for me in India. Anybody??? |
