Budget Airlines - Easyjet India?

Yeah, I wish, we all wish.

Some time ago I read an article regarding Indian budget airlines with ridiculously low prices. I have found the new airlines but the prices don't seem too keen. I am paying £400 to fly to India and Air India want £200 to fly me from Bangalore to Kolkata. The new 'budget' airlines 'Spice', 'Kingfisher' , 'Deccan' are not much cheaper.Anybody out there found these flights?

Phil.

I find Deccan to be the cheapest. I looked up a flight from Bangalore to Kol and it was under 4,000 r each way.

Rollins - Do you have this right ? Here is what I found for a flight for 4 jul 2006 and 1 aug 2006 - the fare is Rs 3574 or say 40 to 45 pounds.

By the way that is one long distance you are covering.

Try http://airdeccan.net/airdeccan/home.asp - Air Deccan !

Try using faresearch.

In general I may be wrong but Deccan and Spicejet are prob the only ones that save you much money at all, and only on some routes. I don't remember the Bangalore-Kolkata route being cheap on any airline, so I take the train.

Really cheap prices can be had on the budget airlines if you book in advance and during the promotions... that applies for budget airlines all over the world I guess.

Thanks for the excellent links!

Why is it the engine does not return results for flights later than, say, two months from now?

Thank you

Thanks guys, this is all excellent stuff. I tried on Deccan and although I can't book for Jan I did get a fare for about 38 pounds sterling. I only hope this is an all over fare. When I went to Kingfisher I was asked if I was 'Indian' or 'other'. I hope 'other' gets the same deal. We shall see.

Keep posting your experiences as you are likely to fly these routes
and airlines.

Latte - yes Spice Jet and Deccan are genuine budget airlines ; Kingfisher is midway.

Ben - Why dont you email Air Deccan ; I did once and got a prompt reply.

Hi
I just travelled Kingfisher and deccan on Mumbai - Banglore sector.

I booked tickets 2 days before -
Mum - Blr - Kingfisher 9 am flight - Rs. 4000/- this flight was delayed by 30 mins.
Blr - Mum - Deccan 9:30 PM flight - Rs. 2500/- this flight was delayed by 2 hrs.

my choice at the slightly higher price is Kingfisher - better quality and service, slightly larger seats, in flight entertainment and food all well thought, planned and executed.

Deccan was late and no explanations offered, no annoncements and absolutely no service, on top of that they try to sell us branded goods during the flight.

I am yet to try the other budget airlines and will post my experiance soon.

regards
mani
