There is plenty to do in the airport when waiting for connecting flights.
It was the Lufthansa staff that pointed me the WRONG direction after we got to the right terminal Grrr!!

Yeah Schipol is a pretty amazing place, reasonably easy to navigate I thought but then it is my 'home' airport so maybe not???

Yes Lufthansa staff are a bit cold but from my experience of travelling on various euro airlines to India, they are the most efficient. Even more efficient than KLM (but Schipol is my favourite airport and $hits on Frankfurt, BHX, LHR etc etc), it took me 3 days to get to India once on KLM via Oman due to overbookings. But even with the inconvenience they treated me well with stays in good hotels and I got to see a bit of Muscat which I would never otherwise travel to.

But there are 4 terminals (5th being built) so you may need to bus from one to another.

If you are staying on the same airline, it may very well be the same terminal, though.

Thanks, now I'm worried. It looks like I have to go from terminal 4 to terminal 2 in 1 hour and 20 minutes. What is this about checking the bags again in Heathrow? I thought once they check the bags at JFK they go straight to Delhi. OK, you can tell I haven't been to India. I've only been to Latin america and Europe but never had any problems.

Just to follow up.

I have booked myself with Virgin using their website and then had to call them to finish the deal. I booked the SFO-LON leg no problem, but when I tried to book the LON-DEL leg it would only allow me to do it with a credit card based in the UK. So I had to call in and book it. Calling in was friendly and efficient and no problem using my US based card.

My girlfriend also just flew with Virgin (SFO-LON) and reported back that the seat was pretty small, but food was ok and service was fine.

Sorry. Thanks
Airlines use various fare codes to describe fare paid. Y is economy, J is business, F is first. I used to work for an airline, so I get caught up in the jargon too often.
