booking goair ticket from US

Hi all,

I am trying to book a goair ticket for a domestic flight in India, though I am currently in the US, but an error message comes up after I have entered my credit card details saying there is problem with the credit card information entered. Does anyone know why this is?

I am putting down my address in the US, do I need to use a fake indian one (I think that the correct credit card address is needed though to charge a credit card)?

Do you think that you need to book during Indian business hours like for indian rail tickets?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Many airlines, for domestic travel, dont accept international credit cards, that might be the reason. On another note, have been trying to book goair doemstic travel by phone locally but the automated response is all i to get hear. You may like to try www.makemytrip.com Its an online travel portal here, they are supposed to be good.

Try going thru to Indian web travel portals such as:
Yatra.com
Makemytrip.com
Travelguru.com
arzoo.com
rediff.com
indiatimes.com

They let u compare flights, fares and book online.
E-Tickets can be printed 24X7 .

VISA and MASTERCARD as well as MAESTRO are generally accepted.

Foreign exchange regulations and lack of tie-up with your bank cud be an issue here.

Check wid ur local bank on that - u might need an international version of ur card.

Within India, Indian railways has an official tie-up with State Bank of India, where -in they issue a credit card to book train tickets online.

What browser are you using?

I've found that for some odd reasons my credit card payments for rail and air bookings don't go through, if I'm using 'alternative browsers'. They tend to force you to use IE, which I hate but have to use when booking. Ergh.

Normally I use Opera, but for Goair I used Internet Exploder , the Goair site only works with IE. I suspect that Goair has the same problem as AirDeccan and simply cannot accept international credit cards at this time.

I have booked Air Deccan several times with my Singapore credit card. Strange!

This is the warning that is displayed in the Airdeccan site when trying to confirm the tickets :-

Quote:
The ICICI gateway which has been integrated on our website for accepting payment for online bookings has temporarily blocked international credit cards. This has been done to prevent mis-use of cards due to the sudden rise in fraudulent transactions especially on international cards. We would like to assure you that the airline in not in favour of this since we realise that we loose revenue due to these cards being blocked. This problem, as per the bank shall be resolved in the next 2-3 weeks time. We are sure that you would appreciate that this is beyond our control and has been done in keeping the credit card users' benefit in mind. We request you to kindly make your booking through an alternate card or on cash payment at any of our other points of sale.
I guess GoAir and a few other airlines use the same payment gateway too ,provided by ICICI bank.

My englsih friends from spain faced the same problem few days back. Air deccan will somehow not accept the international card. it would not help to give a fake address. i think you need to consult with someone in india or directly with air deccan.

thank you
