Beating the Fog!

I was investigating the fog situation that occurs in Delhi in January when I came across this article http://www.business-standard.com/ind.../01/11/340994/.
The general gist I have got from this forum are that people aren't too impressed with Air India however, this article states that they are best trained crew to handle the fog. Anyone had any experiences?

I have also heard that if you fly between 10am and 5pm you are pretty safe?

I want to book a domestic flight with Air India (if they are indeed the best in fog) in mid January that arrives in Delhi from Varanasi at 17:00 and then I have an international flight leaving at 23:55. Am I cutting it too fine? I figure I am allowing for delays. I just pray it won't be cancelled. Too risky?

I was told here that the instrumentation prevents all such problems. Hmmm..

The fog operating systems are still way off due to many reasons including pilots not being properly trained. Usually the day flights do not have to face the fog problem so the flight from Varanasi is ok and you have ample time. Cancellation is an unforeseen situation and nothing can be done about it except being safe and arriving in Delhi a day before.

Take an overnight train if you want to avoid any hassles.
