Bagdogra to Sikkim
It's me again - looking for advice from all of you wise IM'ers!
I'm wondering if I should consider the helicopter to Sikkim from Bagdogra airport. For two reasons - not only is it faster.....but my whole life I've never been in one and have always wanted to! Have any of you taken it? Was it worth the extra money, or should I just hire a jeep and be done with it? Thoughts? Opinions? |

Stuff the jeep, you'll have plenty of jeep trips on the rest of your trip.
Get the helicopter, probibly less expensive than a day at a fun fair, but much more exciting, and the views.

I didn't take the helicopter but I met someone who did and she said it was a fantastic trip! The jeep ride from Bagdogra to Gangtok is pleasant and scenic, but you'll be able to take even better jeep rides out of Gangtok into North Sikkim anyway (if you have some free time away from your volunteer clinic duties!), so I vote with steven_ber. Take the helicopter!
