Is the difference material?
Whatever you do, do not forget to take advantage of the rather generous 25% discount available on IA and Jet if you're under 30! Last edited by Alchemy : Aug 10th, 2005 at 07:28. |

How much is the mark-up for non-residents?
As far as I can remember, I thought it was maybe 10-15%, so in the grand scheme of things (and costs of travelling), not really that important. Also, it is a "fair" kind of discrimination (if there is such a thing), as (a) it's relatively small; and (b) it's clearly published and not arbitrary. Anyway, if money is an object (and even if not), trains are vastly preferable for even rather long distances, I think. This in particular also applies to the route you mention, which is served by the very scenic Konkan Railway. Not to be missed. |

Its not THAT small
Alchemy
I am afraid the difference can be huge. I am looking at a flight in Octber from Delhi to Patna. The Dollar fare is $175 per person. The rupee fare (cheap[est discounted available to book) is a mere Rs 2721. Now that is a HUGE difference when there are 3 of us Joe |
