Are 3 hours enough for international to domestic transfer at mumbai

I am sorry if I am asking a repeated question. I have read all the related blogs on this and am still confused.

Our Qantas flight is due to land at Mumbai at 6pm. To go to Hyderabad, I have an option of taking kingfisher flight at 9PM from domestic terminal or midnight 00.30 Air india flight from International terminal which reaches Hyd at 3AM.

Can I clear the customs, collect luggage and take the shuttle bus and still reach the Kingfisher on time ?

Or i have to wait 6 hours for AI flight..

Other travel websites also mention a 9.20 PM Indigo flight from MUM to HYD but their own website does not. is there a flight at this time and if so would that be a better option.

Any one who has recently been Mumbai or knows about traffic at this time Please Please advise.

thanks

You should be OK if the flight arrives on time. An hour to clear customs and get your baggage, half an hour to the domestic terminal on the shuttle bus, leaving an hour to check in and a half hour to spare.

Well..... QF123 does not have a good reputation for ontime statistics. If that is what you are taking SYD-BOM. Anyways, verify my assertion with This website

Thanks hal2004 and nycank for the replies.

Yes QF 123 does not seem to be on time half the time or late at least half an hour most of the time. This leaves me just 21/2 hours between the flights.

May be I should prepare myself for the long wait with two cranky kids( after the 13 hour flight they would be!!!!)

Is there any free/paid lounge/room for sleeping at the International arrivals ?
Is the food decent at the International terminal?
Thanks

I have never used or even explored arrivals facilities in the international terminal; your best bet would be to ask the QF staff that meets the flight on the ground, and request that they get you a voucher for lounge facilities in the domestic terminal (i.e Air India lounge if possible)

Get to the domestic terminal as fast as possible. The international terminal is old and undergoing constant renovations. The domestic terminal is new.

Hi sesi,
I stay in Mumbai, there is a free airport Bus services from between International and domestic, and actual distance between International and domestic airport is not more than 15-20min without traffic, and if you leave by 7.00 also i think one hour is Enough for traveling!

Have great journey! Please feel free to ask any question, Indiamike is a great forum!!

Cheers!!
