Anyone tried air courier travel?
I'm trying to get to Delhi for some dental tourism within the next few months. Does anyone have experience with any of the air courier agencies? I'm looking at joining IAATC.

Oh, this used to be a good idea. However, it has suffered due to all the discount fares. Before you join anything be aware that you can dig out the companies from a telephone book. You have to build a relationship with a company and it can be competitive. Good luck even if it doesn't work out..

You have to build a relationship with a company before you fly? How exactly does one do that?

ive never seen it be worthwhile - pricewise let alone hassle factor. in fact, ive actually purchased tickets far cheaper than what couriers offer.

Courier companies have gotten very tough since 911. The same applies to Fedex jump seats out of Anchorage or Memphis into Asia.
You need to know someone very senior in the company to use these tickets and these days they only allow you to travel with hand luggage. The prices are not that much cheaper than the cheapest airfare so its not worth it.

A professor friend of mine goes through them and he's had some deals I've never found cheaper. Last November he flew RT LAX - DEL for US$400 on I think China Airlines with a 30-day stay (he was only there for three weeks).
Since this is for dental work, I don't need to check baggage, I can live out of a carryon for several weeks. I was just wondering if anyone else had experience with them. I haven't seen anything close to RT $400 from L.A. before. |

Yes! I've been to that site, thanks. I was just wondering if anyone else had personal experience with being a courier.

Traceyam, have you already checked out a dentist in Delhi to find out his prices and whether he will be able to give you bulk appointments so that you can get everything done in 30 days?
