Amritsar to Srinagar ?

Hi IndiaMikers

I can find references on the Internet which suggest that both Air Sahara and Kingfisher operate this route. Unfortunately their websites indicate otherwise. Do any carriers operate this route ?

There appear to be numerous operators running...

go to ixigo.com , which is a meta search engine for flights and enter the search query there. I just did it and had an option of 5-6 carriers including, King, Deccan, Jet, Spice , Go and India

Only one problem with the flights ixigo suggests - they are all routed via New Delhi which is where we will have just arrived in Amritsar from

I wonder about connections between Amritsar and Srinagar (and vice versa) that are not by airplanes. Any information about this? I think train connection does not exist so i should have to hire a car?

edit: oops, just saw that i am in the domestic flights area...sorry for this, but would still be happy if one has any information

There look to be trains from Amritsar (ASR) to Jammu Tawi (JAT) alright. You'd need to press on to Srinagar then, there are buses here as far as I know. There may well be direct ones from Amritsar.
